SciFi and Fantasy Art: How to Liven Up a Stir-Fry

The fact that fairies are irritating, pesky little twerps is a no-brainer. Every self-respecting ogre knows that. However, that they are quite a delicacy is less widely realised, and ogres will beam with delight when informed, slobbering as they dream about culling the buggers. Here's an old ogre recipe.

Step 1: Remove wings. Reserve for garnish.
Step 2: Shake vigorously to loosen excess fairydust*.
Step 3: Slice, dice or pulverise. Whatever tickles your fancy.
Step 4: Add to stir-fry, cook and enjoy!

* Fairydust is a known carcinogen, also provoking extreme reactions in those with allergies. Symptoms include hiccupping on Tuesdays, a craving for stamp collecting and (for male ogres) impromptu wearing of women's undergarments.

Acrylic on illustration board, 21 x 40.5 cm. 2006.

That's just so good! I especially like the never ending sky and the smoke. It's beautiful. I didn't believe somebody could draw like this. U are like da Vinci!

:-) Donna Quinn replies: "Thankyou for the comment Ivana. I wasn't overly happy with the clouds, but I do like how the smoke turned out. 2"

Mmm, fairies. An excellent source of protein! I'd like to go out to lunch with that ogre one day, he looks such a charming chap.

:-) Donna Quinn replies: "I cannot helped but be continually irritated by fairies. With pixies, sprites and the like, they are by some degree my least favourite fantasy creature. Thankyou for the comment Jasmin!"

What I want to know is, when invited to an orge party what wine does one bring that will compliment such a tempting dish?

As gruesome as this is I must admit to a certain sense of satisfaction in the idea. The world is definitely over-populated with fairies and we must consider that for conservation reasons the flocks must be culled regularly. I like to take a naturist's point of view in these matters, don't cha know.

The landscape is definitely grand in this one and the brush fire adds a nice touch of interest. I wonder, do orges use a controlled burn to flush the fairies out? Hmmm.

The orge is very handsome and his healthy green pelt tells me that he must indulge quite often. The two observers, however realize they are missing out. How sad.

:-) Donna Quinn replies: "Wow, thanks for the comment Barbara. I'm sorry it's taking me so long to reply. I 'm very tardy with replying to comments lately. I think the best thing to bring to an ogre party would be the chuck bag from an airplane. If it's carried discreetly in a nice evening bag no-one will notice. Just a tip! Oh, and the landscape was based off an African plain. It does me good to get out of my own backyard for a while."

The description is great! 14 Excellent idea and very funny - especially the allergic effects!

Great picture, too - I like the colours, and the clouds are great. Very interesting creatures, too. I like how all of them look different - the green one looks especially funny!
