SciFi and Fantasy Art: Fabulous Dr Lobo

"Greetings! How would you like cash in hand for your frontal lobe? I urgently need it to continue research into how ugly people misuse their brains, and you're an ideal candidate for this crucial work. You don't look like the sort who'd miss something as trivial as a useless brain part. You'll never notice it's gone! Huh? Oh, I'm sorry, I don't know sign language. What?! I hope you don't greet your mother with that mouth!"

Thus ended another highly successful doctor-(potential) patient interaction with Dr Lobo. His trusty pet frog croaked. "Smooooooth, doc."

"Don't worry Ugtoad. He'll be back." Dr Lobo furrowed his brow. He hadn't nabbed any clients in the past three days at the carnival, and he was dumbfounded as to what the problem could be. Surely the average patron of a funfair came to the event hoping for a lobotomy? One thing was certain, the problem didn't lie with the good doctor. Lobo's dress sense could have put him on a Milan catwalk, portraying as he did the image of a trustworthy neurosurgeon with an interest in circus chic. His people skills were beyond reproach. No worries there. And as if that weren't enough, he had a shiny new M.D., fresh off the internet from the online university of Sugob.

Dr Lobo shrugged, tugged at Ugtoad's leash, and continued plying his trade. He'd get a bite soon and would be making that first sweet incision before you could say "get away from me freak".

Hint: look more closely at where Dr Lobo's degree is from. Acrylic on illustration board, 38 x 25.5 cm. 2006.

:-) Donna Quinn replies: "Thankyou very much. Yeah, he practiced on Ugtoad... and I think Ugtoad practised on Dr Lobo while he slept."

;0) what a fantastic imagination coupled with a wicked sense of humour

i also love the clothes he's wearing, and the rubbish /lizard around the floor

:-) Donna Quinn replies: "I think I said it on another site, but it deserves another mention: I'd be SCREAMING if I dropped *my* icecream. Cheers and thanks for the comment Randy."

*First comment dance* Hi, Donna. I love it ! I love your style, as you know already. I love these funny faces. I love your imagination. I'm allways so happy to see new pictures from you. And you're very creative, in this moment.

:-) Donna Quinn replies: "Thankyou very much Anne. This was for a Bifrost project. Every couple of months a new idea is voted for, and each member makes a story/ pic on that theme. Most of the time I'm not too keen on the chosen idea, but by the time I have a picture done for it I've come round and end up really enjoying it."

THE HORROR! OH, THE HORROR!! You've gone too far this time!!!!

THREE WHOLE DOLLARS for the Terror Wheel?! Egads!!!!

Ahem...moving on...

Oh now. Dr. Lobo doesn't seem like that bad of a chap. He's just trying to earn a decent living while performing a badly needed community service (at least in my community). I find myself quite sympathetic to his dillema. Good thing the Doc has trusty old Ugtoad to keep his spirits up.

A great pic that is as fun to look at as it is to ride the Terror Wheel! Just not as pricey. Three dollars... *grumble*

:-) Donna Quinn replies: "At the Sydney Royal Easter Show, it's OVER $5 to ride the ferris wheel. I thought this was relatively cheap until a friend at work balked at the price. I suppose they know how to charge even at the macabre carnival.... O_o"

Heeheehee! That's actually what escaped my mouth when I saw that. What a fantastic picture! I commend your creativity. That is just the most ridiculously quirky creature I've ever seen. Excellent job. Love all the detail and background!

:-) Donna Quinn replies: "Thankyou Emily. I didn't really like this picture when it was done, but Dr Lobo has grown on me. It's nice for him to get some love and comments, or else... he goes... strange.... @_@ Cheers."

That’s great! I read the description, and then scrolled down. Silly me, I thought the doctor in the description was human. It’s delightful!

:-) Donna Quinn replies: "Human? Now that is bogus. 10 Just kidding; thanks for the comment Sarah!"

haha2) this is so so cool!you are so incredibly creative and talented and ti think you are self-taught artist, it’s just AMAZING!
P.S: I’ve always wanted to do a draw with an entertaining park in the fantasy world and when I will gain half of the skill you have with acrylics I will do it!

:-) Donna Quinn replies: "Don’t wait Agatha, it’ll be better practice to paint it now, while you’re inspired to do so. Thanks for the comment!"
